The Wandering Home Group
The Wandering Home Group is for people who have lost a sense of home with their spiritual communities, and/or God. It is an experiential group in which members can form a safe community to renegotiate spiritual themes of loss, longing, and belonging. Through storytelling, discussion, expressive arts, and reflective practices, we will do the work of meaning-making as we seek to reframe our experiences within a larger story that is big enough to hold our questions, doubts, and uncertainties.

Our most painful experiences of wandering in the wilderness can become our most sacred places of growth and transformation. This largely depends on our spiritual resources and connection to God / the sacred, the meaning we make of these experiences, and how we interpret them as part of our bigger stories. This is the robust hope that lies at the heart of the Wandering Home Group:
that within one’s greatest loss and pain may also be found the seeds of greatest healing and spiritual transformation;
that wandering need not always be understood as an act of spiritual rebellion, but as an act of spiritual responsiveness to divine longings within us;
that leaving church can be just as faithful an act, and sometimes more so, than staying;
and that there is a rich community of wanderers in the wilderness with whom we may make the journey.
